Canadian Dental Care Plan

Eligibility Criteria

Determining your eligibility for the Canadian Dental Care Plan is simple. Review the criteria below to see if you qualify for affordable dental care and start saving on the services you need.

You’re a Canadian resident for tax purposes

To be eligible for the federal government program, you must be a Canadian resident for tax purposes. This means you file taxes in Canada and meet residency criteria under the Income Tax Act.
icon

You don’t have access to dental insurance

If you currently don’t have coverage through a private or employer-sponsored dental insurance plan, you may qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan. This program is designed to help individuals and families without existing dental coverage access affordable oral health care.

Your adjusted family net Income Is Less Than $90,000

Eligibility is based on your adjusted family net income. If your household income is below $90,000, you can qualify for coverage. This ensures that support is directed to those who need it most.

You have filed your taxes in the previous year

To qualify for the Canadian Dental Care Plan, you and your spouse or common-law partner (if applicable) must have filed your taxes for the previous year. This allows the government to assess your income and determine your eligibility for reduced-cost dental care.

Testimonials

  • Senior who finally got dental care after years of neglect

"For years, I avoided the dentist because I thought I couldn’t afford it—until I picked up a flosser from my local pharmacy and saw the number for CDCP. I called, and within minutes, everything changed. They explained the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) to me, helped me confirm I was eligible, and matched me with a fantastic dentist who finally gave me the care I desperately needed. No confusing process, no delays—just real help when I needed it most. I can eat comfortably again, and I finally feel like myself. If I hadn’t picked up that flosser, I might still be suffering. If you see one, take it as a sign to call—this program is life-changing."
    Margaret P., 72,
    Hamilton, ON
  • Working parent who needed to maximize CDCP eligibility

"I always thought dental care was out of reach, even with the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), because I didn’t fully understand how to use it. Then one night, my Uber Eats order had a flosser with a phone number, and I decided to call. CDCP made everything simple—they explained exactly what I was eligible for, matched me with a dentist who specializes in CDCP patients, and made sure I was maximizing my benefits. I went from feeling overwhelmed to having complete confidence that my family and I were getting the best care possible. If you’ve seen the flossers around town, take them as a sign—call the number, and let them help you the way they helped me!"
    Jessica R., 38,
    Burlington, ON
  • Business owner providing flossers & access to dental care

"When CDCP approached me about distributing flossers at my café, I didn’t think much of it at first. But when I saw how many of my customers and staff were taking them, asking about the Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP), and actually booking appointments because of it, I knew I had made the right decision. CDCP is changing lives—people just don’t know they qualify until they see the flossers and call. As a business owner, this is one of the simplest ways I’ve ever had to give back. It’s effortless, it helps my customers and employees, and it connects them with the #1 place to find out about CDCP online. If you run a business, this is a no-brainer—get involved!"
    David L., Small Business Owner,
    Oakville, ON

Dental care services

What Is Covered Under The CDCP

CDCP offers a wide range of dental services designed to maintain and restore your oral health. Below is a breakdown of the CDCP coverage to help you understand your options.

These services focus on treating the gums and supporting structures around teeth:

  • Cleaning under the gumline
  • Treating abscesses
  • Bonding for mobile teeth (requires preauthorization)
  • Post-surgical evaluations (requires preauthorization)
  • Non-surgical gum disease management

These services repair severely damaged teeth when basic fillings aren’t enough:

  • Repairs to crowns and re-bonding of crowns and posts
  • Crowns (requires preauthorization)
  • Cores to support crowns (requires preauthorization)

These services replace missing teeth to restore your smile and function:

  • Complete dentures (standard and temporary)
  • Denture repairs, relines, and rebases
  • Lining dentures to condition oral tissues for comfort and healing
  • Immediate and overdentures (requires preauthorization)
  • Partial dentures (require preauthorization)

These services address serious conditions in the mouth and jaw:

  • Removal of teeth and roots
  • Surgical removal of tumours and cysts
  • Surgical incisions, including drainage of infections
  • Treatments for broken jawbones

These services control pain and provide sedation during other dental treatments:

  • Minimal sedation (conscious sedation)
  • Moderate sedation (requires preauthorization)
  • Deep sedation (requires preauthorization)
  • General anaesthesia (requires preauthorization)

Some services, including those exceeding established frequency limits, require preauthorization from the CDCP. This means your dental provider will recommend treatments, and the CDCP will review your case to determine if coverage applies. Approval depends on your oral health history and medical needs, and not all requests will qualify. If a service isn’t covered, you may choose to proceed and pay your provider directly.

How CDCP Can Reduce Dental Care Costs

The CDCP will help cover a portion of your dental treatment costs, but it may not pay for everything. You may need to pay extra directly to your oral health provider if:

  • Your adjusted family net income is between $70,000 and $89,999.
  • The cost of your dental services exceeds what the CDCP reimburses.
  • You and your provider agree on services that aren't covered by the CDCP.

Only dental providers will be reimbursed for services covered under the CDCP. For your convenience, our participating offices will handle all the paperwork and submit the necessary forms on your behalf, so you don’t have to worry about the details!

About Canadian Dental Care Providers

Have questions? Check out our FAQs below for quick answers to common inquiries.

No problem! We can still help you understand what to expect next and connect you with a local dental provider who accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan.

We’re privately operated and funded by participating dental clinics—not the government. Our support is free for the public.

That’s a fair question. We’re a legitimate, privately run organization helping Canadians access trusted dental care through the Canadian Dental Care Plan—a government-funded program.

We never collect sensitive personal information, and everything we do is based on consent and transparency.

You’re always welcome to verify the Canadian Dental Care Plan through official government websites. You can also review our Privacy Policy to learn more about how we protect your information.

No—never. We don’t ask for your Social Insurance Number or banking details.

Our role is simply to help verify your eligibility and connect you with dental providers who accept the plan. Any sensitive information should only be submitted directly through official government channels. Visit our Privacy Policy for more details.

Many Canadians are eligible for dental care through the plan, but aren’t sure how to access it, or didn’t know they qualified.

We launched this initiative to bridge that gap and make the process easier.

Our goal is to increase awareness, offer clear guidance, and help people connect with licensed providers who participate in the program.

No—we’re an independent organization.

We’re not affiliated with the government, but we work to support access to the Canadian Dental Care Plan by connecting people with trusted dental professionals who are enrolled in the program.

If your current dentist accepts the Canadian Dental Care Plan, you can continue seeing them—no problem.

If they’re not participating, we can help you find another licensed provider who does. You’re always free to choose the provider that’s right for you.

We recently switched to a toll-free number to make it easier—and more affordable—for people across Canada to reach us.

Our previous number led to confusion and long-distance charges for some callers, so we made the change to better serve the public.

You can now reach us at 1-833-333-2327 — with no long-distance fees.

We’re still the same team, committed to making dental care easier to access for all Canadians.
